WELWITCHIA UNIVERSITY PARTICIPATES IN TWO-DAY PARLIAMENTARY STAKEHOLDER CONSULTATION ON HEALTH EDUCATION

On 3–4 July 2026, Welwitchia University joined other health training institutions for a two-day stakeholder consultation convened by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Youth, Civic Relations and Community Development. The first day (3 July) brought together institutions of higher learning to discuss the current status and future direction of health education in Namibia. The second day (4 July) focused on Student Representative Councils.

During the session, Welwitchia University presented an overview of its health programmes, emphasising the quality and regulatory recognition that underpin its training. The University’s health programmes are dually accredited by the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA), the Namibia Council for Higher Education (NCHE), and the Health Professionals Council of Namibia (HPCNA). This multi-agency accreditation demonstrates Welwitchia’s commitment to meeting national standards and positions the University as a preferred choice for students pursuing careers in health.
Highlighted programmes include:

  • Nursing (flagship programmes), providing comprehensive clinical and theoretical training.
  • Certificate in Pharmacy (Level 5), offering foundational pharmaceutical knowledge and practice.
  • Diploma in Environmental Health Sciences (Level 6), preparing graduates for public and environmental health roles.
  • Bachelor of Social Work (Honours), equipping professionals for social welfare and community development services.

Welwitchia University remains committed to producing competent, ethically grounded health professionals to serve Namibia and the broader region. The University thanks the Parliamentary Standing Committee for the opportunity to engage and looks forward to continued collaboration with government, regulatory bodies, partner institutions, and student representatives to strengthen health education nationally.
