WELWITCHIA UNIVERSITY AND HOPE HOME-BASED HEALTH CARE SIGN AGREEMENT TO STRENGTHEN STUDENT TRAINING

On 8 June 2026, Welwitchia University has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Hope Home-Based Health Care to enhance the practical training, placement, and professional development of students pursuing Bachelor’s degrees in Social Work and Nursing. The agreement was signed today in Windhoek by Prof. Marius Hedimbi, Vice-Chancellor of Welwitchia University, and Ms. Eglien Uises, Founder and Executive Director of Hope Home-Based Health Care.

The partnership creates a framework for collaboration in student field placements, joint training and capacity building, research collaboration, community outreach and awareness campaigns, programme development and evaluation, and joint grant applications for health-related projects. Welwitchia University said the agreement is intended to provide students with meaningful hands-on experience in real-world settings, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge while developing professional skills under structured supervision and mentorship.

The University added that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening community-based learning, improving service delivery, and producing competent graduates who are ready to contribute to the health and social care sectors. “This partnership is an important step in expanding practical learning opportunities for our students while deepening collaboration with an organisation that shares our commitment to service, knowledge exchange, and community impact,” said Prof. Marius Hedimbi, Vice-Chancellor of Welwitchia University.

Welwitchia University looks forward to a productive collaboration with Hope Home-Based Health Care that will benefit students, communities, and the wider health and social services landscape in Namibia.
